Bag Design: Marie

In a week or two my course at uni is having a fundraiser to print a publication to prepare in time for our exhibition, and we'll be selling screen-printed canvas bags as well as Christmas cards. Here's my design, which I plan to print in classic Rococo pink and blue. :) I plan to redraw one or two areas before the design is final, particularly her hands, but I won't get a chance this weekend (Paris book fair!) so I thought I'd upload the design as it is just now.

I hope to produce another design as well, but it depends how many of my classmates get involved. Feel free to place orders..! :D

Allerleirauh

Welcome to my shiny new blog!

For my latest project I am adapting the Grimm fairy tale Allerleirauh, or All-Kinds-of-Fur. Here are a few pieces of black-and-white developmental work; the first two are from my sketchbook, the latter two are from a small storybook I put together to keep my ideas and visual development for this project moving.

This story is full of such rich imagery and themes, and can be interpreted in so many different ways. I think the best way to approach adapting this story is to establish what makes the story so special to me; I find the most personal interpretations of stories are often the most interesting.

Back to it! :)
